The Twins AA Hockey Program is a joint venture between South Winnipeg Hockey Association (SWHA) and the Fort Garry North Hockey Association (FGNHA). The Twins Executive is comprised of two appointed members (one from each SWHA and FGNHA) and an elected executive who manage this high quality competitive AA hockey program.
AA Hockey within the Hockey Winnipeg system begins at the U13 age group (11/12) and continues on until the U18 age (15/16/17). The Twins host 8 AA teams:
Note: New for the 2019-2020 season, Hockey Winnipeg has eliminated what was formerly known as “Minor” and “Major” categories for both U13 and U15, and combined them into one division, however the plan is to field 2 AA Twins teams of equal calibre in each of the U13 and U15 divisions.
|U13 (11/12) Two Teams||Female U13 (11/12)|
|U15 (13/14) Two Teams||Female U15 (13/14)|
|U18 (15/16/17)||Female U18 (15/16/17)|
Players wishing to tryout for a Twins AA team must first register with SWHA or FGNHA and register for the Twins tryout at the time of registration.
Non-parent coaches are recruited, interviewed, and selected in the late spring/early summer for the following season. Coaches make player selections during the team formation tryout process in the fall, and players who are not selected for AA are released to take part in the try-out process for their respective hockey association (either SWHA or FGNHA).
